When routine dentistry is not enough

You may need a prosthodontist if the problem is larger than one tooth

If you are missing teeth, dealing with worn-down or broken teeth, struggling with dentures that do not fit, or trying to understand the best path for complex restorative work, prosthodontic care is built for cases like these. Prosthodontics is the dental specialty focused on restoring and replacing teeth while rebuilding function, comfort, appearance, and long-term oral stability.

Who we help

Care designed for patients with complex restorative needs

Many patients who search for a prosthodontist are dealing with challenges that affect everyday life, from chewing and speaking to confidence in social or professional settings.

Missing teeth

You may be missing one tooth, several teeth, or an entire arch and want a solution that looks natural, feels stable, and supports long-term oral health.

Trauma, medical history, or congenital issues

Patients referred after trauma, advanced disease, cancer treatment, or developmental conditions often need a specialist-led plan that considers function as carefully as appearance.

Failing dental work

Old crowns, bridges, worn restorations, recurrent fractures, or repeated dental patchwork can make it difficult to know what should be saved and what should be rebuilt.

Loose or uncomfortable dentures

If your current denture slips, rubs, limits your diet, or makes you self-conscious, we can evaluate whether a more stable removable or implant-supported option makes sense.

Severe wear or bite collapse

Years of grinding, erosion, breakage, or an unstable bite can shorten teeth, strain the jaw, and make your smile feel tired, uneven, or fragile.

Complex cosmetic-restorative cases

Some smiles need more than whitening or veneers alone. We help patients whose goals involve both aesthetics and deeper structural correction.

Treatment options

Prosthodontic treatment built around the problem, not a one-size-fits-all menu

Every recommendation starts with diagnosis and planning. The right answer depends on how many teeth are involved, what condition they are in, the quality of the bone and gums, your bite, your goals, and whether you want a fixed or removable solution.

Dental implants

For single missing teeth, multiple missing teeth, or larger restorative plans, implants can support crowns, bridges, or implant-retained restorations designed for stability and function.

Single tooth to full-arch replacement

Crowns and bridges

When teeth can be restored or gaps can be replaced with fixed prosthetics, crowns and bridges can rebuild strength, appearance, and bite support.

Functional and aesthetic reconstruction

Dentures and partial dentures

We design removable prosthetics for fit, comfort, support, and appearance, including solutions for patients frustrated by older dentures that no longer perform well.

Traditional and implant-supported options

Bite and occlusal rehabilitation

Some patients need more than replacing teeth. They need a plan that addresses how the teeth meet, how forces are distributed, and how the restorations will hold up over time.

Built for long-term stability

Full-mouth rehabilitation

For patients with multiple failing teeth, severe wear, bite issues, or widespread structural problems, a comprehensive plan can rebuild the smile as a system.

Veneers and complex cosmetic restoration

When cosmetic concerns overlap with worn, chipped, uneven, or heavily restored teeth, treatment can be planned to improve appearance while respecting function.

Why patients seek a prosthodontist

A specialist approach for patients facing bigger restorative decisions

Many patients who arrive here have already spent time in dental care. They may have been referred by a general dentist, oral surgeon, or another provider because the case involves more planning, more moving parts, or more at stake.

  • Advanced treatment planning: Built around the condition of the teeth, gums, bone, bite, and long-term restorative goals.
  • Complex case coordination: Helpful when implants, extractions, surgery, or staged treatment need to work together.
  • Restorations with purpose: The goal is not just to fill space, but to restore how the smile looks, feels, and functions.
  • Clarity for uncertain cases: If you have been told you need “a lot of work,” we help break the process into a plan you can understand.

My training background: undergraduate degree from the University of Denver, a DDS from the Medical College of Virginia / Virginia Commonwealth University, a prosthodontics residency at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, and implant surgery training at Temple. (Baylor’s dental school is now Texas A&M College of Dentistry)I trained early on with Per-Ingvar Brånemark, widely considered the father of modern dental implantology, and have also taught classes at Stanford, consulted with the Stanford Study Club since 1992, and served as a board certified Prosthodontist consultant to the Seattle Study Club since 1993.

Clinically, my studios focuses on single-tooth and All-on-4 implants, cosmetic dentistry, laser periodontal therapy, and full-mouth rehabilitation, with an in-house dental lab for same-day denture repairs and relines. I’ve also done continuing education in sedation through DOCS Education.

The difference

What patients want most is a clear path forward

Complex dental problems often come with confusion, anxiety, and concern about cost, durability, and whether the treatment will actually solve the underlying issue.

What many patients feel before treatment

Confused, uncomfortable, and unsure what the right option is

  • Multiple missing or broken teeth affecting daily life
  • Old dental work failing piece by piece
  • Loose dentures or limited chewing ability
  • Concern about committing to the wrong treatment
  • Worry about appearance, cost, and long-term value

What prosthodontic planning provides

A treatment plan built around stability, function, and fit

    • A comprehensive evaluation of teeth, bite, and restorative options
    • A phased plan when multiple issues need to be solved together
    • Clear guidance on implants, bridges, dentures, or full-mouth rehab
    • Restorations designed to support comfort and appearance
    • A more confident decision about where to start and why

For many patients, the consultation itself is a turning point. They finally understand the problem, the options, and the path that makes the most sense.

Full-mouth rehabilitation

When many teeth are involved, the smile has to be planned as a whole

If you are dealing with several failing teeth, severe wear, collapsing bite, extensive past dental work, or a combination of missing and damaged teeth, isolated fixes may not be enough. Full-mouth rehabilitation evaluates the bite, the condition of each tooth, the supporting structures, and the final function of the entire mouth before treatment begins.

  • More than aesthetics: The goal is to restore chewing, comfort, speech, support, and confidence.
  • Built in phases: Some plans involve extractions, temporary restorations, implants, healing, and final prosthetics over time.
  • Customized to the patient: Health history, habits, budget priorities, and long-term goals all matter.
  • Designed for real life: We focus on what will function well, look natural, and make sense for the way you live.

What patients ask us

Frequently asked questions

These are common concerns for patients comparing a prosthodontist with general dental treatment or trying to understand their restorative options.

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist focused on restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth. Prosthodontic care is often recommended when treatment is complex, when multiple restorative options need to be compared carefully, or when function, bite, durability, and appearance all need to be addressed together.

You may benefit from seeing a prosthodontist if you are missing several teeth, dealing with failing crowns or bridges, struggling with dentures, considering implants, or facing a larger restorative case that affects your bite or multiple areas of the mouth. Many patients are referred after a general dentist identifies that the case needs more advanced planning.

Prosthodontists commonly plan and restore implant treatment, including single implants, implant-supported bridges, and full-arch solutions. Depending on the case, implant surgery may also involve coordination with an oral surgeon or other specialists.

Yes. Patients often come to a prosthodontist because their dentures are loose, uncomfortable, unstable, or no longer functioning well. A consultation can help determine whether a revised removable solution or an implant-supported option may provide better support.

Full-mouth rehabilitation is a comprehensive restorative approach used when many teeth, the bite, and the overall function of the mouth need to be rebuilt together. It may involve crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, bite correction, temporaries, and phased treatment planning.

Yes. Prosthodontic treatment planning is individualized and depends on the condition of your teeth, gums, bone support, bite, health history, restorative goals, and whether you want a fixed or removable result.
